Power outages dog communities
Various communities across Ashtabula County lost electricity for about 31 minutes Monday.
The heat and the demand for electricity caused a fault at a substation, which tripped a primary circuit, causing customers to lose electricity about 5:10 p.m., said Mark Jones, Ashtabula County area manager for the Illuminating Co. Because it was a primary circuit, the power outage was felt by customers in several communities in the county, including the east side of Ashtabula and Ashtabula Township near the mall. However, exact numbers of customers or communities affected weren't immediately available.
