• A 13-year-old Lakeside Junior High School student faces charges after a pair of scissors he reportedly took from an art room on Wednesday wound up cutting another student in the finger, deputies said.

• A Colebrook Township man returning home from work Wednesday afternoon encountered two men who were apparently attempting to burglarize his home, deputies said. The homeowner tried to use his vehicle block the would-be thieves’ escape, but they drove around his truck and fled the area, according to a report.
The incident was reported at a Bunker Road residence shortly before 3 p.m., deputies said. The man pulled into his driveway and discovered another truck parked next to his house. When a man emerged from the rear of the house, the owner produced a knife and told the stranger to surrender, deputies said. Instead, the man jumped into the truck and — with another man behind the wheel — sped away, according to a report.
A house on the house had been kicked in, but nothing was taken or disturbed, deputies said. The getaway vehicle was located in Warren, according to a report.
