• An agent with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was injured during an attempt to serve a warrant in Ashtabula City on Friday morning.
According to a report, the Lake County Sheriff Department requested the agents assist them with the search for and arrest of Rashad Bell, 21, of Hamlin Drive. Also sought was Shaniqua Bell, 19. Both were wanted on felony vandalism charges in connection with a burglary on Dec. 15, 2012.
The report shows that the suspects were located in the living room of the home and that Shaniqua surrendered without incident. Rashad also was originally cooperative, but became “instantly violent” when a Fugitive Task Force officer attempted to handcuff the man. It required the efforts of three task force and one Lake County Sheriff deputy to constrain the suspect. One of the task force officers suffered a minor cut to a finger and his nose during the scuffle.
During an intake interview at the Lake County Jail, the male suspect admitted to resisting arrest and attempting to flee. The charge will be filed in Ashtabula Municipal Court, according the report.
