ASHTABULA COUNTY — Congratulations to 10-year old Marlin Weaver of Windsor. His artwork was chosen as the winner of the Kent State University at Ashtabula page in this year’s Star Beacon Christmas Coloring Contest.
Marlin’s mother Esther Weaver said that there was a little sibling competition brewing. "His brother won one last year and Marlin said he was going to win this year," she said.
There were 16 entrants for the KSU Ashtabula page and all were very well received. The pictures are then voted on by staff members who are still on campus the week before winter break.
Marlin’s picture won by only one vote. Voters said it was because of the glitter he added, which is kind of tough to see in the scanned version above. Another staff member commented on the neatness of his lines.
Marlin received a $25 gift card courtesy of the Star Beacon.
