ASHTABULA — Gary A. Bryant Sr., age 66, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Harley Edison and Edna (Hist) Bryant. He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. He married Rebecca Rocco on April 30, 1986.
Gary worked in logistics for various companies over the years including, Ohio Connection and Flying J. Gary loved to operate all different kinds of heavy equipment, especially bull dozers and backhoes. In his past time, he enjoyed woodworking, handy man projects, and spending time with his family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Gary even in death gave back to others by donating the gift of sight.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rebecca; children, Tammy (Ritch) Newbold of White hall, Md., Gary (Erika) Bryant II. of Atlanta, Ga., Valarie Bryant of Odenton, Md. and Randy (Jen) Bryant of Painesville; step-children, Jason (Jen) Evans of Perrysburg, Ohio, Matthew Evans of Conneaut, Nathan Evans of Akron and Andrew Evans of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; sisters, Barbara (J.R.) Dragon of Ashtabula, Karen (Rob) Lamson, of Ashtabula, Debbie (Mike) Elliot of Circleville, Ohio and Beth Bryant of Ashtabula; and grandchildren, Cristian, Justice, Ashton, Nicholas, Benjamin, Samuel, Gabriella, Sebastian and Rustin.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Judy Bryant-Riggs.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Ave., Ashtabula. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #103.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wounded Warriors, Jimmy V. Foundation for cancer research, or the Cleveland Eye Bank. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
