Harry J. Layne Jr.

ORWELL — Harry James Layne Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, with his wife by his side at Blossom Hill, Huntsburg, Ohio.

Born Nov. 19, 1931, in Garnet, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry James Layne and Mayoma Turley Harry and was one of seven children. Harry was married to Doris Jean White on July 27, 1984.

Harry was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. After he returned, he worked at GE for many years. He also went on to work in Real-estate and Farming.

Harry enjoyed being with his family and friends and had a passion for the game of golf and watching Football. Harry was a very caring and understanding man to his wife, children, grandchildren and family. He never asked for much nor did he complain. Harry will be greatly missed for his ability to teach, his humor and looking at the bright side of things no matter what.

Harry was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War of the United States, Post #6846; The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Chapter #104; Orwell American Legion; and a member of the Grand Lodge of F & AM of Ohio, Lodge #0708.

Harry is survived by his wife; three sisters, Evelyn Taylor of Charleston, W.Va., Barberine Fry Revelands of California, and Jeanie Louis Jean Walker of Nitro, W.Va.; and seven children, Threasa Layne of Niles, Ohio, Doug Layne of Georgia, Marty Layne of Niles, Ohio, Desaray Layne of Louisville, Ky., John Moyer of Orwell, Ohio, Wayne White of Orwell, Ohio, and Brittney Moyer of Geneva, Ohio; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by both his parents; one brother, Edward D. Layne; and three sisters, Catherine Beckett, Maxien Cumming and Luciel Fetherson.

A Private Memorial Service for the family will be held.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44106. (Please make note on donations in Memory of Harry Layne.)
