GREENVILLE, Pa. —
Charles Howard Cole, age 93, of 7045 Countyline Road, Williamsfield, Ohio, passed away at St. Paul's in Greenville (West Salem Twp.), Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 1 p.m.
He was born in Williamsfield, Ohio, on August 22, 1919, to the late Harmon and Cora (French) Cole. He graduated from Williamsfield (Ohio) High School and received his degree in education from Ohio State University.
He was a teacher at Williamsfield High School. Charles was also a dairy farmer, and was known as the "cheese man" from selling "Charlie's Cheese" from his home.
He loved riding his bicycles, especially his three wheeled bike, which he actively rode into his 90's. He was the head of "Project Sunshine", which helped to raise money for building playgrounds for orphans in Russia. He loved baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians. He was also an avid fan of Ohio State football.
He was married to Lucile (Logan) Cole on Sept. 12, 1946 and she preceded him in death on June 18, 2012.
Charles is survived by two daughters, Margaret Cole of Cleveland, Ohio and Patricia J. Whyte and her husband, David of Jamestown, Pa.; four sons, Charles C. Cole and his wife, Martha of Warren, Ohio, Kenneth Cole and his wife, Nan of Kinsman, Ohio, Victor Cole of Florida and Richard Kelly Cole and his wife, Claudia of Williamsfield, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Cole; two granddaughters, Alicia Hughes and Vanessa Cole; and a brother, Harmon Albert Cole.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26th, at OSBORNE-WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 73-75 Columbia Ave., Greenville, where a Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m., with the Rev. William G. Kirker, Director of Spiritual Services at St. Paul's, officiating.
