GENEVA — Elsa M. Cameron, age 82, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Sunday morning, March 10, 2013, at UH Geneva Medical Center, Geneva, Ohio.
Born Sept. 21, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of Albert R. and Mary (Pfirrmann) Morris. Elsa graduated from Taylor Alderdice High School in Pittsburgh and received her Bachelor’s degree from PCW (now Chatham College) and served as her class corresponding secretary. She taught in the Pittsburgh Public Schools.
She was an active church member and served as a trustee at the Hebron Presbyterian Church in Penn Hills, Pa. She served as treasurer on the Board of the Presbyterian Home for the Aged in Wilkinsburg, Pa., for over 15 years and also was a Girl Scout leader. She also served as president of the Blackridge Garden Club. After moving to Conneaut in 1988, she became active in the First Congregational UCC where she served as a trustee. She was also a member of the Book Club in Conneaut.
Elsa was a devoted wife of 60 years and mother. She enjoyed tennis, gardening, flowers and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Mortimer B. Cameron Jr. of Conneaut, Ohio; two sons, Duncan S. (Monica) Cameron of Fairfax, Va., and David B. (Betty Lou) Cameron of Springfield, Va.; her daughter, Mary (Robert) Danka of Baton Rouge, La.; seven grandchildren, Gwen, Jack, Paige, Stuart, Mary, Elizabeth and Caroline; two brothers, George (Norma) Morris of Conneaut, Ohio, and Robert Morris of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in infancy.
Funeral Services will be at 12 p.m., Noon, Wednesday, March 13th, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, with Pastor Joyce Shellhammer, of First Congregational UCC, officiating. Private burial will be in Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pa., on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the Service at Noon.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers, to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44119. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
