Upton C. Miller

ASHTABULA — Upton Cission Miller, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center with his loving family at his side.

Born in Louisville, Miss., on Nov. 8, 1919, he is the beloved son of the late Robert and Rebecca (Harden) Miller Sr.

After serving in the United States Army, he moved to the Ashtabula area and worked thirty-seven years for the former Union Carbide Company, retiring as a Utility Supervisor.

On June 11, 1974, he married the former Wanda L. Hawes and together they celebrated thirty years of marriage, until her death on May 12, 2004.

Upton enjoyed fishing and hunting, and being outdoors. His love of nature led him to being a wonderful and resourceful camper; he passed on his love of nature to his children and grandchildren. Upton enjoyed amusement parks; although he did not ride the rides. His greatest enjoyment came from seeing the excitement of his children and grandchildren and their experiences.

A wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, he will be remembered for his love of family and his encouraging ways; his ability to see the good in everyone; and his wonderful smile.

Upton is survived by his children, Luetta L. Conel-Miller, Lynette A. Miller and William C. Miller; 10 grandchildren, Cassandra Foster, Otis Conel IV, Kyle Conel, Riki Miller, Kilian Miller, Amanda Miller, Gabrielle Miller, Wanda Miller, Rey Montalvo and Mario Knapp; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda on May 12, 2004; his son, Gary T. Miller on Oct. 29, 2010; brothers, Titus, Joe, John Henry, Clarence, George and Billy Miller; his sisters, Bobbie Nelson and Adeline Mack; and his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m., Noon, on Friday, Nov. 16th, at THE DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, with his family and friends celebrating his life of ninety-three years. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery, Sheffield Township.

A Calling Hour will be observed from 11 a.m. until the time of Service at 12 p.m., Noon, on Friday at the Funeral Home.
