KINGSVILLE — Doris E. (Tighe) Brown was born on August 7, 1916, in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Lillian (Fisher) Tighe.
She married Bernard M. Brown in Buffalo in 1940, where they lived until moving to Ashtabula, Ohio, in 1956. They were parishioners at Ashtabula St. Joseph Church.
With a Youngstown diocesan scholarship, Doris studied at Kent State University Extension in Ashtabula, completing her B.S.E. with honors at Lake Erie College in Painesville. She taught at Mother of Sorrows School in Ashtabula from 1963 until retiring in 1979, when she and her husband moved to Leisure World in Mesa, Ariz. She returned to Ohio in 2006, living at Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson until her death on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.
Doris was preceded by the death of her husband in 1998 and the death of her grandson, Robert Brown in 1988.
She is survived by daughters, Maureen Tighe-Brown, H.M. and Molly Brown (Thomas) Cuddy; sons, Peter A. Brown and Mark M. (Kathleen) Brown of California; grandchildren, Mark, Brooke, Kristin, Kevin, Aaron and Jordan; and great-grandchildren, Evan, Rileigh, Madeline, Chase, and Hudson.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1st, at the Laurel Lake Retirement Center in Hudson, Ohio.
