Lorene Maple

NORTH KINGSVILLE — Lorene Maple, age 77, of Village Green Drive, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, with her family by her side.

She was born Sept. 26, 1935, in McDowell, Ky., the daughter of Bailey Mosley and Fannie “Awkie” (Moore) Mosley, and had been an Ashtabula County resident since 1963. A graduate of McDowell High School, she also attended Alice Lloyd College for one year.

After working with Roller Plastics, she began a career as an EMT working 20 years with the Red Cross and Hawkins Ambulance Service. She also worked 23 years for Millbrook Bread/Schwebel’s from where she retired.

A member of the Pentecostal Church of God, she was a leader in the Brownies, Girl Scouts and 4-H. She enjoyed crafts and her talents allowed her to make many of her own crafting creations for family and friends. Other hobbies included cooking and cake decorating, sewing and quilting, and tending to her vegetable and flower garden.

Her survivors include her husband of 48 years, Robert Ellsworth Maple, whom she married Sept. 19, 1964; two children, Teresa Little (Mark) Bates of North Kingsville and Robert Duane (Jackie) Maple of Ashtabula; son-in-law, John Frey of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Burgundy (Anthony) LaCute, Joshua (Britainy) Bates, Derek (Amanda) Maple, Ashley (David) Wisniewski, Loren Frey, and Alexander Maple; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Rylie Bates; five brothers, Clabe Bailey (Judy) Mosley of Sadieville, Ky., and Bill Monroe (Shirley) Mosley, Lenville Mosley, Carl Butler (Patsy) Mosley, and Edd Jr. Mosely, all of McDowell, Ky.; five sisters, Avelene (Bethel) Gayheart of McDowell, Ky., Palestine Mosley of Inverness, Fla., Eunice Jane (Roy) Collett of West Liberty, Ky., Julie Marie Wilson of Harold, Ky. and Pearlene Eller of Versailles, Ky.;  brother-in-law, Dent Osborne; and many, many beloved nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Gwynn (Little) Frey on Dec. 13, 2007; one brother, Thaniel Mosley; two sisters, Jewel Dean Osborne and Helen Jean Gayheart; a niece, Misty Lynn Mosley; a nephew, Larry Cline; her brothers-in-law, Reford Gayheart and Charles Eller; and her parents.

Calling Hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 30th, and on Monday, Dec. 31st, from 10 a.m. until the time of Service at 11a.m., at Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Road, Ashtabula.

A Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31st, at the Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery, Ashtabula.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Pentecostal Church of God. DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.
