CONNEAUT — Jonathan “Jon” L. Ranney, age 66, of Conneaut, Ohio, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at UH Conneaut Medical Center.
Born May 19, 1946, in Fredonia, N.Y., he was the son of Ralph L. and Jean Marie (Dorman) Ranney.
An area resident since 1969, Jon was employed in maintenance at General Aluminum, and had also worked at Union Carbide and Rockwell Brake.
He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, drag racing and gardening.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Vicky Johnson; two sons, Joseph A. Ranney of Columbus, Ohio, and Jeffrey A. Ranney of Ashtabula, Ohio; Vicky’s daughters, Melissa (Jeff) Colucci and Christina (Brian) Harrison, all of Conneaut; his sister, Joyce Balder of Price, Utah; three brothers, Jack (Sandy) Ranney of Monroe Township, Ohio, Clarence Ranney of Price, Utah, and Delmar (Millie) Ranney of Greece, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, June Block.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 25th, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Philip Miller, of St. Mary/St. Frances Cabrini Parish, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling Hours are at the Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 24th, from 6 to 8 p.m.
