Geraldine Hettmansperger

CONNEAUT — Geraldine Chapin Hettmansperger, age 83, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, 2012, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa.

She was born Nov. 8, 1928, the daughter of Claude and Olive (Chapin) Ashley. After graduating from Ashtabula High School, Geraldine attended the Eastern Nazarene College.

She had worked for the First United Methodist Church Childcare Center from August 1994 until June 2000 as a childcare provider. Geraldine was a member of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school and directed Bible School. She had also directed the Youth Caravan Program at the Ashtabula Church of the Nazarene.

Geraldine enjoyed preparing and working on crafts for Bible School, Sunday school and her classes at the childcare center. She also loved reading, being with her grandson and great-grandchildren, but most of all, witnessing for the Lord.

Survivors include her son, Michael (Joni Arcaro) Hettmansperger of Monroe Township, Ohio; her grandson, David Hettmansperger of Ashtabula, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David E. Hettmansperger in 1994; her son, Stephen D. Hettmansperger in 2009; four brothers, Lloyd, George, Birdette and Walter Ashley; three sisters, Olive Zae Lenhart, Elva Castelucci and Doris Bucci; and her great-grandson, Joshua in 2001.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10th, at Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, 4841 St. Rt. 84, Kingsville, Ohio, with Pastor Les Bolen officiating. Burial will follow at East Lake Cemetery, North Kingsville, Ohio.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of Service, Friday, at the Church.

Contributions may be made to the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene building fund. Envelopes will be available at the church and also at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has charge of arrangements.
