ASHTABULA —
Evelyn Ruth Coon, age 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Silver Sands Shared Residence, with her beloved family at her side.
The daughter of William Frank and Olive (Wilson) Lewis, she was born on March 28, 1932, in Springboro, Pa. and was a graduate Conneautville High School in 1950. She married her beloved husband, William Arnold on Dec. 8, 1951 and they would have celebrated sixty-one years of marriage. In 1959, they moved to North Kingsville, Ohio, where they made their home. In 1962, they built their home and raised their family
She attended several Presbyterian Churches in the area, but found her home at North Kingsville Presbyterian Church, where she and William were dedicated members. She was also a member of the “Starlighters” for twenty years, as well as a volunteer at Brown Memorial Hospital and Ashtabula General Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion.
A wonderful cook, gardener, and avid reader, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family; especially her beloved grandchildren. Evelyn’s life revolved around her family and friends. She will be remembered as a woman of faith and devotion, inner strength and courage, her wonderful smiles and words of encouragement for all. Those who were blessed to be a part of her life are much richer for having experienced her tender care.
She is survived by her loving husband, William Arnold Coon of Ashtabula; her sons, David (Lisa) Coon of North Kingsville and Edward Coon of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughters, Michelle and Laura Coon, both of Seattle, Wash. and Hannah and Jenna Coon, both of North Kingsville; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, William A. Coon Jr. on Nov. 17, 1976; her sister, Ethel Potts; brothers, Bill Lewis, Bob Lewis and Earl Lewis; and her parents.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 29th, at North Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 6546 Church St., North Kingsville, with the Rev. Kenneth Ayres, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville. Calling Hours will be observed from 2 to 5 p.m., TODAY, Oct. 28th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
