LAURINBURG, N.C. —
Tedrick R. “Ted” Laurie, age 77, of Laurinburg, N.C., passed away Monday, May 7, 2012, with his daughters at his side.
He was born August 22, 1934, in Grove City, Ohio, the son of Paul Patzer and Frank and Corinne Patzer Laurie, and had lived in Ashtabula most of his life until moving to North Carolina 25 years ago.
Mr. Laurie worked as an electrician at True Temper Corporation, and as the owner of his own electrical contracting business, Lake Erie Controller, in Ashtabula, Ohio. He retired as an electrician with the Port Authority of the State of North Carolina in 1998.
Ted loved boating on Lake Erie and in the Atlantic. His pride was his Chris Craft boat named “Viking”. He had belonged to the Riverside Yacht Club in Ashtabula and continued his love of boating and the water while living in North Carolina. He was a member of Kings Gate Church Int’l in Hamlet, N.C.
Mr. Laurie was a heart transplant survivor for 14 years! His family wishes to thank all the CCICU medical staff, Palliative Care and Hospice care at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C. for their care and compassion during his recent hospital stay.
He is survived by his three daughters, Coleen (Gary) Herron of Ashtabula, Pamela (Rick) Sawyer of Mentor, Ohio and Patricia (John) Gibson of Laurinburg, N.C.; six grandchildren, Shawn (Enola) Herron, Kelley (Michael) Katon, Jaclyn (Christopher) Fait, Kristin (Benjamin) Sharte, Nathan (Rachael) Gibson and Ginny Batton (Lenny Delycure); 13 great-grandchildren, Ian and Alec Katon, Emily, Laurelle and Jarrett Herron, Owen and Quinn Sharte, Mackenzie Fait, William, Andrew, Ava and Daniel Gibson and Leah Batton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in June.
All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; you are now at peace forever, safely home in Heaven at last. We love you Dad.
