REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Robert Raymond Palmer, age 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at his home in Redwood City, Calif.
Born Jan. 12, 1931, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the son of the late Louis Franklin Palmer and Mae Ola (Smith) Palmer and graduated from John Marshall High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and moved to California in 1964.
Robert had numerous jobs during his career, including working as an accountant and purchasing agent for a trailer manufacturer, Reliance Electric, the New York Times and Molded Fiber Glass. He retired from the City of San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority.
Bob loved automobiles, antique cars, motorcycles, and had traveled extensively around the world. He was very active in his local senior center and loved going to bingo with friends. He had a marvelous sense of humor and an endless supply of jokes to tell.
Although, he had no children of his own, he was a devoted “Uncle Bob” to his numerous nieces and nephews.
He is survived by brothers, Richard of Sandusky, Ohio, Harry C. Prine Jr. of Jefferson, Ohio, and Herbert D. Prine (Donna) of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Paul Palmer and Charles (Alvira) Prine; and sisters, Leola (George) Clark, Ella Jean Palmer and Eleanor Prine.
A Memorial Service with Pastor Jeff Stoll will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in North Kingsville, Ohio, at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 18th, followed by a gathering at the Saybrook United Methodist Church.
