TUCSON, Ariz. — James Roger Loeffel, age 74, passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.
Jim was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on Oct. 16, 1938, the son of the late Adrian and Esther (Karnehm) Loeffel. He graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1956 and the served in the United States Navy.
He worked briefly for Sears and Pittsburgh Plate Glass of Ashtabula, eventually he and his family moved to Warrensville Heights, Ohio.
Jim and his wife, Barbara (Katz), would then move to Tucson, Ariz. In Arizona, he and his wife artistically created Southwestern art in which they sold at many art and craft shows throughout the Southwest.
Jim was a life-long Cleveland Browns fan and a NASCAR enthusiast.
Survivors include his children: daughter, Cathy and her husband Dave Crislip of Ashtabula, two sons, The Rev. Frank and his wife Tammy Loeffel of Ashtabula and Kurt and his wife Jennifer Loeffel of Painesville; and eight grandchildren, Lisa, NIck, Jacob, Rachel, Jerrid, Mathew, Danielle and Mariah. He is also survived by his brother, John and his wife Karen of Painesville, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Katz); his parents; and siblings, brothers, Ed and Bob; and his sister, Ruth.
By his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Jim’s old time great friend, Norman of Tucson, Ariz., carried out Jim’s last wishes.
