ASHTABULA — Lucille Isabel Bond, age 83, of North Bend Road, passed away in her sleep on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at her home.
She was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Emilio and Clara (Bisaroe-Penezeroli) Marta and had been a lifelong area resident.
A 1948 graduate of Ashtabula High School, she worked at Miller’s Clothing in the Ashtabula Plaza and at Singer Sewing Machine before ending her working career in customer service with TCI Cable from where she retired while in her 70’s.
A gifted seamstress, she loved to cook, read and collect antiques. Her enjoyment of QVC made it difficult to downsize when she moved from her home to her apartment at Willowbrook. In her younger years, she enjoyed picnics with the kids and she had always been a lover of cats, collecting cat memorabilia even when she no longer could care for them as pets. She also truly enjoyed her regular games of Pokeno with the “Ladies of Willowbrook.”
Her survivors include four children, Janice (Al) Sidbeck, Jeff (Betty) Bond, and Margie (Jeff) Jones, all of Ashtabula and Kathy Bond of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Curtis) Reed, Christina Jones and Kevin Jr., Shannon, Matthew, Stephanie and Tiffany Fridrich; one great-grandchild, Riley Fridrich; one sister, Marie (John) Oscar of Delaware; and one brother, John (Mary) Marta of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bond in 1993; her daughter, Pam (Bob) Brennan; two sisters, Amelia Marta and Evelyn (Charles) Noce; one brother, Ronald Marta in infancy; and her parents.
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19th, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Service at 7 p.m., at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. A private burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20th, at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.
