SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Marjorie Barbato, age 92, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Saybrook Landing Nursing Care facility.
Born on July 7, 1920, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary (Mauro) Barbato and was a graduate of Ashtabula High School.
Marjorie retired as manager of Sun Finance Company in Ashtabula.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace / Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Marjorie was a member of the Anita Garibaldi Lodge #722, where she held many offices, including past president and served on the Ohio Insurance Commission for the Anita Garibaldi Lodge. She was also a member of the Zonta Club and the Civil Defense during World War II.
She enjoyed Bocci league, golf, and was a big Browns and Indians fan, attending many games.
Marjorie is survived by her brother, Dominic Barbato, and her sister, Carmel Barbato, both of Ashtabula; and seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carmen Barbato of Ashtabula; sister, Theresa Wallent of Wyandott, Mich.; and sister-in-law, Charlene Barbato of Ashtabula.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17th, at Our Lady of Peace / Mount Carmel Church, 1200 E. 21st St. in Ashtabula, Ohio. Father Ernesto Rodriguez will preside.
Calling Hour will be 1 p.m. until time of Service at the Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in her memory.
