KELLOGGSVILLE —
Eleanore D. Dehner, age 91, went home to be with the Lord, and family members and friends that went on before her. She died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at home in Kelloggsville, Ohio.
Born Jan. 10, 1921, in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of Florence (Rennick) and William R. Applebee. Ellie was a 1939 graduate of Kingsville High School, where she played on the girls basketball team.
On Oct. 28, 1939, Eleanore D. Applebee married Raymond Leatherman. God blessed their marriage with two sons.
She was a homemaker, but during WWII, with her husband in the Navy, she worked along with two of her sisters at The Astatic Corporation in Conneaut, Ohio. For a number of years, she owned and ran a general grocery store in Kelloggsville, Ohio. She was a charter member of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene and attended it throughout her life.
After 41 happy years of marriage with Ray, and after his passing in 1981, she married Ray’s half brother, Paul Dehner on Jan. 12, 1984. They had 14 happy years of marriage before his passing in 1998.
Eleanore loved being with family, her dog, “Renn” and loved fishing in her younger years. She liked doing her yard work, flowers, gardening, going out to eat, traveling, playing the card game Skip-Bo with friends and watching the game show channel.
Survivors include her son, Loren (Kathryn) Leatherman of Kelloggsville, Ohio; five grandsons, Loren (Robin) Leatherman Jr., Jon (Lou Ann) Leatherman, Dan (Becky) Leatherman, Mark (Tonya) Leatherman and Jim (Mabel) Matanin; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn (Joe) Simak; two brothers, Don (Bobbie) and Jack (Bonnie) Applebee; and a brother-in-law, Ed Detrick.
Ellie was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ray Leatherman; second husband, Paul Dehner; son, Terry Leatherman; granddaughter, Renee Leatherman; brother, William E. Applebee; and five sisters, Edna Kitchen, Ethel Anderson, Doris Furmage, Beth Sheneman and Lois Detrick.
Funeral Services will be held 7 p.m., Thursday, May 3rd, at Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Lester Bolen officiating, where friends may call from 5 p.m. until time of Services at 7 p.m.Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, May 4th, at Kelloggsville Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials in her name may be given to Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene.
