SPRING, Texas —
Carol Acierno Lackson was born May 2, 1939 in Ashtabula, Ohio and passed away May 5, 2012 in Spring, Texas after a battle with colon cancer.
Preceding her in death were her mother Ellen Acierno and father Edward Acierno.
She is survived by her husband Carl of Spring, Texas; daughter Dr. Susan Hutchins, son-in-law Dennis Hutchins, granddaughter Katherine Hutchins of The Woodlands, Texas; sister Roberta Knoepp and her husband David of Westlake, Ohio; sister Mary Ellen DeMarco and her husband James of Naples, Florida; sister-in-law Norma Dragon and her husband Andrew of Ashtabula, Ohio; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews living throughout the United States.
Carol graduated salutatorian from Ashtabula Harbor High School in 1957 where she was Head Majorette for two years. She received her B.A in Sociology, graduating with honors, from Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio in 1961 which she attended on a full scholarship from General Motors.
She was a social worker in Cleveland, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois and in later years was a real estate broker in Houston. Although she moved from Ohio many years ago, she remained a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Always an avid golfer, she enjoyed membership at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois; Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas and Lake Windcrest Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas.
Carol and Carl would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this June. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her wit and wisdom will be missed.
Services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ashtabula, Ohio on June 9, 2012 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 are suggested.
