ASHTABULA —
Virginia L. Cooper, age 93, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born March 18, 1918, in Pierpont, Ohio, the daughter of Bernard “Bernie” and Mary C. (Brayman) Moore and had lived all of her life as a resident of Ashtabula County, living most of her life in Ashtabula City. Virginia graduated from Pierpont High School, and then completed her 12th grade at Ashtabula High School in 1936. She married her husband, Joseph H. Cooper from Pottsville, Pa. In 1938, he worked at the Ashtabula Bow Socket.
Virginia was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was employed at J.C. Penny for 45 years, working in the last three stores. She was a C.B. Fan, known as Happy Nana.
Virginia enjoyed working in her gardens and flowers. She was an active traveler with the Monroe Sirens. She also found pleasure in sewing, crocheting and other crafts with yarn. She loved all her dogs and cats that she had over the years.
Virginia is survived by her son, Terry H. Cooper of Lewisburg, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Clara E. Cooper of Ashtabula, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Tammy L. Dyne of Ashtabula, Heidi M. (Jack) Lawson of Englewood, Ohio, Tomma (George) Godsave of Linesville, Pa., Wendy R. (Brady) Minnick of Kansas City, Mo., Cheryl Cooper of Richmond, Va., Tracy J. (Todd) Rowe of North Kingsville, Ohio, Terry J. (Melissa) Cooper of Englewood, Ohio, Todd (Kathleen) Cooper of Rome, Ohio, Gregory VanDyke of Chesterfield, Mich., Heidi M. Baker from Australia and Jennifer A. (Shannon) Seebach of Brookfield, Ohio; 34 great-grandchildren, Christopher, and Daniel Rockwell, Anthony Dyne, Tiffany and Dennis Dibble, Robert, David and Michael Ryman, Elizabeth, Seth, Joseph, Anna, Sarah and Caleb Alley, Justin, Stephanie and Joseph Cooper, Brandi, Sydney, Taylor and Dylan Rowe, Kayra, Corey, Joseph and Thomas Cooper, Brittany and Alexis Cooper, Samantha, Sabrina and Sydney Van Dyke, Christopher, Courtney and Cameron Carr and Brendan Baker; five great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kayden Dibble, Ada Kent, Caleb Ryman and Cierra Alley-Dalzell; sister-in-law, Rita Moore; nieces, Daria (Ronald) Tataleba and Regina (Bradley) Zmyslinski; nephew, Jeffrey (Terri) Moore; great-nieces, Nicole Tatabela and Megan Moore; great-nephews, PJ, Michael and Christopher Moore; and her home companion, “Shadoe” her cat. She loved her family and friends very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph in 1977; son, J. Allen Cooper; grandson, Timothy A. Cooper; great-grandson, Matthew A. Cooper; her brother, Howard H. Moore; and daughter-in-law, Sharon A. Cooper.
Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18th, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1342 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Quincy Worthington, Pastor officiating.
Calling Hours will be observed from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17th, at ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
