Reed A. Buckey

CUYAHOGA FALLS — Reed Allan Buckey, age 52, a resident of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at the Summa Western Reserve Hospital.

Reed was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on Nov. 29, 1960, to William F. Buckey Sr. and Grace M. Reposky. Reed served in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1982 thru 2011 and retired in 2011 with nearly 30 years service to his country. Reed began his career in K Troop 3rd Squadron of 107th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Ashtabula, he later became the 3rd squadron 107th ACR S-4 NCO and later finished his service as the S-4 NCO for the 237th BSB 37th IBCT. Over the time of his service, he received many awards and Citations. Reed lived the motto "Mission First, Troops Always".

He mentored many people in the field of logistics and was the "go to" NCO in that field. Reed was involved in Search and Rescue on Lake Erie, and a lifelong supporter of scouting. He enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, flowers and barbecuing. He loved spending time with his sons, Jack and Luke, taking them fishing and fishing derbies, launching model rockets with them and his stepsons, Michael and Devin.

He loved his cats and dogs who kept him company and gave him love. He was a member of the Moose, Lodge 918, American Legion, Post 7.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Rose Buckey, Paul and Bertha Grace Moore and John and Julia Reposky; aunt, Sylvia Buckey; uncles, Norman Britton and Uncle Paul Moore; and first cousins, Cheryl and David Buckey.

Reed is survived by his wife, Judith Buckey; two sons, Jack (15) and Luke (10) Buckey; and two stepsons, Michael Blazick (17) and Devin Reckart (13); parents, Grace (Andy) Reposky and William Sr. (Bonnie) Buckey; and five brothers and sisters, William Jr. (Caroline), Susan, Karen, Warren and Wendy Buckey; aunts, Aunty Patty (Ellis) Watson, Aunt Pearl Britton, Aunt Bonnie (Jim) Dioneff, Aunty Judy (Richard) Hornstein, Aunt Betty Seamon, Aunt Barbara Reid and Aunt Jancie Marinchak; uncles, Uncle Edward Buckey and Uncle David E. Bucky; two nephews, Andrew and Stephen; and nieces, Erin, Amy, Jewlie, Tiffany and Holly; his best friend/brother, Jim Raymond; friend/sister, Vicki England Patton; and all of his brothers and sisters in the Ohio Army National Guard.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may call from 12 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8th, in the CLIFFORD-SHOEMAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. the same day.

There will also be a Celebration of Reed on Sunday, Feb. 10th, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Moose Lodge 918, 4444 State Road, Peninsula, Ohio 44264.
