LENOX TOWNSHIP — Joseph J. Hrapko, age 86, of Footville-Richmond Road, Lenox Township, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 9, 2013, at the Hospice of Western Reserve Hospice Unit in Ashtabula.
He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Cleveland, the son of Joseph and Mary (Kosovich) Hrapko and resided in Mentor for 30 years prior to moving to Jefferson in 1990. Mr. Hrapko was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.
He was a truck driver for Motor Freight Express, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church and the Teamsters Union. He was a CB & Short Wave Radio enthusiast and he was good at repairing anything.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Kupina) Hrapko, whom he married on Sept. 11, 1947 at St. Andrew’s Church in Cleveland; four children, Jerome (Chris) Hrapko of Hamden Township, Rod (Lynda) Hrapko, Maureen (Alan) Clark and Joseph Hrapko, all of Mentor; three grandchildren, Erin (Jeremy) Woodward, Rachel Clark and Tiffani (Joshua) Webster; two step-grandchildren, Ryan (Caroline) El-Khoury and Samir (Ashley) El-Khoury; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Webster; a step-great-granddaughter, Autumn El-Khoury; and a sister, Katharine Hrapko of Garfield Heights.
Private family graveside services will be held Saturday at Lenox Center Cemetery with Fr. Charles Poore, of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church presiding. Geneva VFW Post #6846 will offer full Military Honors.
No calling hours will be observed.
