ASHTABULA —
Carolyn H. Allemeier, age 100, of Ashtabula and formerly of Chardon, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 14, 1912, in Cleveland, the daughter of Fred and Frieda (Schmidt) Spieth. She married Forrest Allemeier on July 20, 1929 and they spent almost 70 years together before he died on June 19, 1998.
Carolyn was a lifetime member of the Dorset United Methodist Church; the Andover OK Rebecca Lodge; the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau and had been a 4-H leader. She had managed hotels and motels in New Jersey and in Ohio for ten years and moved to Florida in 1978 and returned to Chardon in 1993. She enjoyed fishing, flower gardening, traveling and playing Pinochle .
Surviving her are two daughters, Frieda M. Nadack of Chardon and Beverly M. (Robert) Skarlinski of Ashtabula; her grandchildren, Robert Skarlinski, Michael Skarlinski, Becky (Tom) Berkstresser, Carloyn (Phil) Holden, Charles (Jeanette) Van Horn, Debbie (Adrian) Kooyman, David (Lou) Van Horn; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson, Aiden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Forrest; two sons-in-law, Charles Van Horn and Andrew Nadack; a grandson, Danny Skarlinski; her brothers, John, Fred, Edward, William and Albert Spieth; and by a sister, Florence Wilker.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3rd, at Dorset United Methodist Church, 2818 Route #193, Dorset, with the Rev. David Miller officiating. Burial will be in Dorset Cemetery.
Calling Hour will be from 10 a.m. until time of Service, Saturday, at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dorset United Methodist Church. The Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses and aides on C Wing at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home where she received excellent care. Also thanks to Hospice of the Western Reserve and Rev. David Miller of Dorset United Methodist Church for all of his visits and prayers.
