MADISON — Irene Bernatowicz, age 89, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Lantern Of Madison in Madison.
She was born April 30, 1923, in Greenfield Township, Pa., to Francis (Wisniewski) and Anthony Domeracki. She married Frederick Michael Bernatowicz in Erie, Pa. on August 11, 1945.
Irene was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and active with the Legion of Mary and Catholic Women’s Union. She was an active member of the PTA at St. John’s School in Erie, Pa., and served as a den mother for several years and was awarded Den Mother of The Year.
She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie (Richard) Profeta of Madison; sons, Frederick A. (Mary Lou) Bernatowicz of Harborcreek, Pa. and David A. (Andrea) Bernatowicz of Garfield Heights; grandchildren, Kimberly and Michael Profeta, Nicholas and Benjamin Bernatowicz; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sister Antonia Domeracki of St. Joseph Convent, Erie, Pa. and Antonia Rutherford of Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick; brothers, Chester, John, Stanley and Steve Domeracki; sisters, Anna Markiewicz, Lucy Slupski and Martha Domeracki; niece, Barbara Leofsky; and a great-grandson, Joseph Profeta.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 20th, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 26 River St., Madison.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Thursday, March 21st, at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison, Ohio, with Fr. Donnelly, officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva.
