GENEVA —
Patricia A. Spiesman, age 83, of Burrows St., Geneva, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2012, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Cleveland, the daughter of Charles and Georgie (McIlvried) Hammer and had resided in the Geneva area since 1948, coming from Sewickley, Pa. She was valedictorian of Sewickley High School class of 1946 and was a graduate of Kent State University. She was married to Charles M. Spiesman on Oct. 6, 1956 at the Christ Church in Geneva.
Mrs. Spiesman retired in 1994 from the treasurer’s office of the Ashtabula City Schools after 16 years of service. Mrs. Spiesman was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Mentor and served as a union steward for OAPSE and an ombudsman for the Ohio Dept. of Aging. She enjoyed painting and traveling.
Survivors include four children, John M. Spiesman of Thompson, William G. Spiesman of Geneva, Andrew C. (Amy) Spiesman of Painesville Township and Sarah J. Spiesman of Perrysburg; three grandchildren, Macon A. (Joanna) Spiesman, Matthew C. Spiesman and Adam M. Spiesman; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee M. Spiesman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles in 1972; a granddaughter, Caitlyn Joann Spiesman at birth; and three sisters, Jean Sipes, Eloise McKeon and Marie Bruckman.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 15th, at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 7989 Little Mountain Road, Mentor, Ohio 44060, with the Rev. Kelly Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling Hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the Geneva Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Andrew Episcopal Church at the above address, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
