ASHTABULA —
Knute Svendsen, age 80, of Ashtabula, died at home on Friday afternoon, April 27, 2012, after a long illness.
Born July 30, 1931, in Oslo, Norway, he was the son of Arnt and Edle (Andersen) Svendsen. Knute immigrated to the United States in 1946, and became a citizen on July 16, 1953. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea. On July 15, 1964, he married the former Mary Cusano.
Mr. Svendsen was retired from Stone Container in Jefferson. He enjoyed fishing, boating and was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his son Knute (Maria) Svendsen of Lakeland, Fla.; daughter, MaryLou (Dave New) Svendsen of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Randall Svendsen, Esther Svendsen, Johanna Carrasco and Jorge Carrasco; great-grandchild, Kayden Maj; and a cousin, Roar (Brit) Svendsen of Oslo, Norway.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Otis Long; and his wife, Mary Svendsen.
Funeral Service will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, May 1st., at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 6280 S. Main St., North Kingsville, with Burial to follow in Gageville Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard Team from Post 103.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Funeral Home.
