MARTINEZ, Ga. — Mrs. Cary Coutts Kata, age 61, entered the Kingdom of God on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, with loved ones at her side.
She is the loving wife of Dr. Martin Kata and mother of Justin, Christian and Martin Kata. Born on Oct. 19, 1951, in Ashtabula, Ohio, she is the daughter of the late H. Donald Coutts and Marjorie P. Coutts and sister to Cindy Coutts Priest and Connie Coutts Stanberry.
Cary graduated from Harbor High School in 1970 and went on to swim, play basketball and tennis, for the University of Rio Grande in Ohio. In 1992, she was inducted into the Rio Grande Hall of Fame for all three sports.
Cary taught in Geneva for 10 years before marrying Dr. Kata in June of 1983. In 1991, Cary moved to Augusta with her family and raised the Kata Factor. Later, Cary taught at St. Mary’s on the Hill Catholic School for six years.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 13th, from 6:30 until 9 p.m., with the Vigil for the Deceased to be recited at 6 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14th, at St. Mary’s on the Hill Catholic Church, with the Rev. Scott Winchel as celebrant. Cary will later be laid to rest at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit.
