ANDOVER — Theresa Marie Ferrari Phipps, age 75, of Andover, Ohio, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in her home after a 42 year battle with lymphoma.
She was born Oct. 31, 1937, in Footdale, Pa., the seventh child of the late Pete and Blanche Hixon Ferrari. On June 19, 1982, in Jefferson, Ohio, she married her true love, Thomas L. Phipps who died Oct. 25, 2010.
A homemaker, Mrs. Phipps was previously employed by A & P Tea Co. in Chardon, Ohio and the K Mart in Conneaut, Ohio. She was a member of the Rhema Christian Center in Lewisburg, W.Va. and was instrumental in establishing a mission in Haiti through the Center.
She enjoyed reading the bible and talking to her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, many of which she gave away and some she sold using the money to help fund her Haiti Mission.
Surviving are her six children, Terri Wojtowicz (Mark), Jack Metz Jr. (Robin), Emil E. Metz (Becky), Victoria Crawford (Alan), Chris Metz (Terrie) and Jane Marie Phipps; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Minnie Logan, Betty Kelley, Mary Ann Feddor, Laura Elliott, Wanda Staley and Helen Davis; two brothers, Pete and Ray Ferrari; and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Sharon King who was always there for her.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a grandson, Jeffrey Thomas Wojtowicz; three sisters, Elizabeth Ferrari, Sarah Waters and Josephine Hetrick; and one brother, James A. Ferrari.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2nd, in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main St., Beallsville, Pa., where services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 3rd, with the Rev. Aleda Menchyk officiating. Private interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Beckley, W.Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Rhema Christian Center, P.O. Box 172, Lewisburg, W.Va. 24901.
