Betty J. Dudley

WARREN — Betty Jean Hill Dudley, age 82, passed Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Community Skilled Health Care Centre after an extended illness.

Born Dec. 20, 1929, she was the daughter of Minnie M. Hill and Rev. Luther F. Hill and graduated in 1947 from Central High School, Cleveland.

She was a member of the Art Club, and the Central Senior High Marching Band in the clarinet section. For many years, she belonged to the Polite Duchess Club. She enjoyed roller skating, dancing and loved to dress. Also, she belonged to the Primadonna Social Club which was a charity club for young girls.

She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, which was founded by her grandfather the late David W. Hill in 1927.

She married David Dudley on June 24, 1950, and to that union nine children were born.

She was raised in Cleveland later relocating to Hartsgrove, Ohio, in the early 1960’s to raise her family. She had a passion for cooking and baking pound cakes, buttermilk pies, and making rolls, which she would deliver to friends and family during the holidays. Her greatest joy came on Sunday’s when she would prepare the Sunday dinner.

She was a devoted mother and loved her children. She was a beautiful person with a lovable personality always living life to the fullest. She enjoyed entertaining, hosting family reunions, sewing, gardening, word puzzles and watching Jeopardy.

She was very active with her children and their friends, spending many hours shuffling all of them around between girl scouts, football, basketball and play practices.

She loved the time she spent with her family and friends on a Caribbean cruise and her travels to Colorado Springs. And, the summer vacations spent in Chicago, Ill.

Her smile and laughter will always be cherished by those she knew and loved her and those that loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, David; sister, Sandra Forsha; and daughter, Carol Dudley.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Gloria H. Williams (Michael )Johnson of Fresno, Calif., and Alice (Alan) Siefullah of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Luther F. Hill Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; four sons, David (Nancy) Dudley of Windsor, Ohio, Delton Dudley of Colorado Springs, Colo., Harold Dudley of Mentor, Ohio, and Todd Dudley of Chicago, Ill.; four daughters, Diane (Nathan) King of Warren, Ohio, Betty Jean Willis of Ashtabula, Ohio, Denise Collins of Mesquite, Texas, and Nancy L. Dudley of Lewisville, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; great-aunts, Charlotte Martin and Alice Ruth Stewart, both of Cleveland; dear friends, Iylene Macek, Vorice Wilkins and Clara Alexander; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Public viewing Friday, Nov. 16th, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Family will not be present.

Calling Hour begins at 10 a.m. with Services at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 17th, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 7510 Woodland Ave., Cleveland, with Pastor Jacquelyn Matthews officiating. Repass will immediately follow at the Church.

Family will receive friends after 2 p.m. on Saturday at Seifullah Gallery, 14940 Euclid Ave. at Grasmere Road. Parking /entrance in rear (216-268-1008). Burial will be Monday, Nov. 19th, 11 a.m. at Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, Ohio. All welcomed.
