FAIRVIEW, Pa. — Virginia R. Silverthorn Jackson, age 93, formerly of Lake City, Pa., died Monday Feb. 11, 2013, at Fairview Manor.
Virginia was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Girard Township, a daughter of the late Roa and Lou Bax Silverthorn. She graduated from the Rice Avenue Union High School in 1938 and married Bill Jackson in 1940.
She loved her flower garden, watching birds and baking. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy as she spoke of them often.
She did work with Bill to get Jackburn Mfg. on it's feet for several years, but was most comfortable at her home on Elk Street.
She was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church where she served on the Women's Society, helped with countless dinners and shared in the care of a disabled church member for years.
She was preceded in death by a her husband, Arthur "A.B.” Jackson on Oct. 29, 2005, whom she married March 9, 1940, in Lake City; also by a brother, Clarence Silverthorn.
She is survived by her children: R.A. Jackson (Blodwyn) of Lake City, Pa., Frances Elaine Jones (Kim) of Mantua, Ohio, and David C. Jackson (Linda) of Conneaut, Ohio; a sister, Flora Rice of Albion; a brother, Robert Silverthorn of Niles, Ohio; grandchildren, Andrew Jackson (Linda), Dr. Ellen Strobel (Brian), Rebecca Hysing (Andrew), Brian Jones (Mandy), Robert Jones (Nicole), Dr. Erin Donley (Dr. Chad Donley), Kelly Jackson (fiancé Andrew Miller); great-grandchildren, Isabel Hysing, Gavin Hysing, Jackson Jones, Samuel Jones, Caroline Stroble and Parker Strobel; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 14th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at EDDER FUNERAL HOME, 309 Main St. East, Girard, Pa., and are invited to attend Services there on Friday, Feb. 15th, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Brock Beveridge officiating.
