CIRCLEVILLE — Henrietta May Dewey Correll, R. N., age 72, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Brown Memorial Nursing Home.
Born on Jan. 10, 1941, in Conneaut, Ohio, she was the daughter of Henry and Hazel (Thompson) Dewey. She graduated from Conneaut High School and Mount Sinai School of Nursing in Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Archie Paul Dewey.
Henrietta was the mother of two daughters, Gretchen K. Bakies of Lakewood and Holly L. (Correll) Cable of Columbus; sister, Hazel (Dr. John) Venable of Conneaut; nieces, Charla, Michelle, Robin, Cindy and Tracy; and nephew, Stephen.
She worked in various fields of nursing which fulfilled her passion for nursing, OBGYN nurse, ER nurse, Director of Nursing in Long Term Care, Nurse Consultant for Beverly Enterprises and retired from Medigold in Mt. Carmel Health System and Parish Nurse of her church.
Along with her passion for nursing, she enjoyed history, antiques (specifically furniture and teapots) attributed mostly by her love of her English and German heritage. She also enjoyed gardening and studying genealogy.
Her greatest loves were her two daughters, her grandsons, Cameron and Joshua, whom she loved “to the moon and back”, her significant other, Gene Gray and his family, and “Mousey”, her faithful Chihuahua. She was a member of Emmett Chapel United Methodist Church.
Thank you specifically to The James Cancer Hospital, floor 7 staff and all of the wonderful staff at Brown Memorial Nursing Home. Each and everyone of you always had a kind word to say of her, as did she all of you.
A Memorial Service is planned for 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2nd, at Emmett Chapel UMC, with Pastor Jeff Julian officiating. A light luncheon will be served afterwards.
