GENEVA — Lura L. Douglas (Patterson), age 89, of Geneva, Ohio, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in Peachtree, Ga., at the home of her daughter, Carol Braun, of reoccurrence of stomach cancer complications.
Lura was born July 14, 1923, in Rock Creek, Ohio. She was one of 15 surviving children of Clair Sr. and Blanche Wright. She raised a family of six children.
Lura retired from the Geneva Area City Schools after 20 years and was president of OAPSE. She also served as Director of the Geneva Food Pantry for over 27 years and was active in her church and community. She was honored as Senior Queen in the Geneva Grape Jamboree in 2010.
Her survivors include her children, William J. (Marsha) Patterson Jr. of Viera, Fla., Carol J. Braun and Sandra K. (Jim) Tuman, both of Peachtree City, Ga., Walter R. (Jacqueline Bailey, deceased) Patterson of Geneva and Pamela J. (Dr. Gary) Hals of Chapin, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and three brothers, Richard (Bette) Wright of Kingsville and Dewane (Elaine) Wright and Ronald (Lindie) Wright, both of Geneva.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William J. Patterson Sr. and Robert Douglas; son, Robert L. (Suzanne Christian, deceased) Spade; and her parents Clair Sr. and Blanche Wright.
She will be missed.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 24th, at Peoples Church, 300 South Ridge East, Geneva, with the Rev. Alex Zell officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23rd, at WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.
