CONNEAUT —
Rebecca Ruffin, age 88, of Dean Ave., Conneaut, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at The Villa at the Lake.
Ms. Ruffin was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Conneaut, Ohio, to James H. Sr. and Eliza Ann (McClease) Ruffin.
She attended The Ohio State University and was employed as an executive secretary with General Electric, retiring in 1987 after 40 years of service.
Rebecca was a member of First United Church of Christ, where she served as past moderator. She also belonged to the Mystic Circle and enjoyed singing with the MacDowel Music Ensemble.
Ms. Ruffin is survived by her niece, Mary Ann (Robert) Potts of Cleveland; and nephews, Paul, David and Michael Ruffin, all of Cleveland and James (Patricia) Ruffin of Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, James, Obed, Elizabeth, Mary, Nathaniel and Isaiah Ruffin.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4th, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 211 Buffalo St., Conneaut, with Pastor Joyce Shellhammer officiating. Graveside services will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Rebecca requested donations be given to First United Church of Christ Building Fund or Music Fund. Envelopes will be available at THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St., Conneaut, who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
