Fishermen discover human foot along SW Ohio river

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio —  Police say two fishermen have recovered a human foot along a bank of the Great Miami River in southwest Ohio.

Middletown police Lt. Scott Reeve says two fishermen were putting out lines on the river’s east bank Monday just north of the Germantown Road Bridge when they found the foot next to a pile of debris.

The Middletown Journal reports that authorities spent more than six hours Monday searching the river for additional body parts. They’re resuming those efforts Tuesday.

Deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office were searching the river by boat. Buckeye Search and Rescue dogs were looking along the river.

Police say they don’t know if the foot belonged to a male or a female.
