The Lakeside swim teams split Saturday’s dual meet against Chardon at Spire Institute.
The Lakeside boys took nine of eleven first-place finishes on senior night in a 112-12 victory.
First-place individual finishes by Chip Ranck in the 200-yard IM and 500-yard freestyle, Ethan Beitel in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, Bel Howell in the 100-yard freestyle and breastroke, as well as domination in all relays fueled the Dragons (6-2).
Experience and depth were too much for the Lakeside girls with a 120-47 loss.
Malynda Russell came in first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:23.28 and had a close second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.90. Courtney Smith was third in the 200 freestyle and breastroke for the Dragons (2-6).
Lakeside Swimming will be competing on Saturday in the Premier Athletic Conference Meet at University School.

Lakeside rolls past East
One of the great lessons in sports competitions is to play with the maximum effort in utilizing your own skills and talents. It’s a lot easier said than done, but the Lakeside Dragons got a full dose of it Thursday afternoon as they tangled with a youthful and inexperienced group of Panthers from Youngstown East in a Division I sectional semifinal ballgame. The Dragons came out on top, 12-0.
