Warriors sitting pretty

On Friday, the Edgewood Warriors defeated John F. Kennedy.

Today, they will be depending on John F. Kennedy to get them into the playoffs.

Confused? The explanation is simple. The late President has two high schools in Northeast Ohio named for him. One, located in Cleveland, was trounced by the Warriors 39-0 on Friday night. The other, situated in Warren, now plays the only team that stands between Edgewood and a spot in the Division IV, Region 13 playoffs.

The situation comes down solely to the result of today’s contest between Warren JFK and Cleveland Central Catholic, which will be played at Central Catholic.

If  JFK (8-1)  wins, the Warriors will take the eighth and final playoff spot in the region. If Central Catholic is victorious, it will oust Edgewood for that final berth.

The young man, a barrell-chested 10-year-old wearing a suit, looks up to me in tear-filled eyes.

  • On to the next

History is not only a great teacher, but it can also serve as a great motivator. Last year, the Geneva softball team failed to win a game in the Division II postseason tournament.
