DON McCORMACK
Paying another visit to the variety store...
One more time
Spurred by the response to the saga of “Tommy and Shirley” being published, a few weeks ago I came to you, Loyal Readers, with the pie-in-the-sky idea of asking you to answer one simple question for me — who or what are you thankful for?
That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. One simple question.
Turns out, the responses I’ve received have been anything but simple.
In fact, it’s just the opposite — they’ve been truly inspiring to read.
About now, you’re probably asking, “So what’s McCormack want us to do now?”
Truth is, Loyal Readers, I come to you today to ask one final time — who or what are you thankful for?
I’m asking one final time because I promise you, Loyal Readers, when you have the opportunity to read what I’ve read, you will feel more than a twinge of regret for not taking a few moments of your life to thank the people who mean the most to you.
This is not a sports concept... this is a life concept. It’s about your “Thankful Fors...”
I will be compiling all of the responses I receive and will package them and run them sometime around Thanksgiving as space allows.
You can submit them to me via email at donmac@suite224.net, fax are 998-7938 or snail mail at P.O. Box 2100, Ashtabula, Ohio 44005-2100. Or, you can hand-deliver them here to the Star Beacon offices, located at 4626 Park Ave., Ashtabula. Please include a telephone number with all of your submissions. And not to worry, it won’t appear in print.
Loyal Readers, please take advantage of this opportunity. I am putting a blank canvas in front of you... all that’s missing is for you to paint the picture.
Please don’t miss out on this chance. Who knows if the opportunity will ever come your way again?
I want to hear your stories... Lord knows, you’ve been forced to endure enough of mine.
Ouch!
Steve Schrader, columnist for the Detroit Free Press, on 12-point underdog Michigan’s best bet to upset hated rival Ohio State on Saturday:
“Call it the Tostitos Michigan-Ohio State Game, and Jim Tressel will surely blow it.”

“Brady Quinn promises dying Browns fan he’ll throw him a completion.”
