The Geneva boys soccer team made its transition into the Premier Athletic Conference a successful one.
In their first year in the league, the Eagles played for a league championship and posted a 4-1-2 mark and were 12-2-3 overall. They shut out 11 of their 17 opponents and were 5-0 against teams from Ashtabula County.
Behind those numbers, senior goalkeeper Kyle O’Dell was named Star Beacon Ashtabula County Boys Soccer Player of the Year. His father, Brian O’Dell, was named Coach of the Year.
Kyle O’Dell had 117 saves on the year and allowed just 11 goals for a 10.6 saves per match average on the season. Surprisingly, two of those 11 goals were scored by his Eagle teammates. Take those two scores out of the equation and he made 13 saves for every goal he allowed. He did not allow a single goal against county competition.
Joining the O’Dells on the All-Ashtabula County first team from Geneva are seniors Tyler Carlisle, Sean Dunlap, Zach Kubec, Joey Streets and Jeff Swanson.
Edgewood has senior Sean Butler and juniors Marcus Harmon and Chris McMellen on the first team. Seniors Connor Craig and Nick Roman are Grand River Academy’s representatives.
Conneaut has senior Jeremy Myers and junior Anthony Terry on the first team and Lakeside has junior Kelsey Harper.
On the second team are Edgewood junior Zach Adkins and seniors Ben Stillman and Tae Summers, Conneaut senior Scott Thompson, Lakeside seniors Patrick Pildner and Adam Flaugher, GRA seniors Patrick Giuliani and D.W. Lee, Grand Valley seniors Mitch Preske, Cory Weyer and Josh Stagl and Geneva senior Patrick Hoerrle and freshman Kevin Lozano.
