Boczar dashes to daylight

Garett Boczar’s 60-yard touchdown run provided the only score for the Jefferson Lower Falcons Red’s 6-0 victory over the Madison Lower Cowboys to keep them undefeated in Buckeye Community Midget Football League action Saturday.

Boczar made the two carries he got in the game count as he ran for 65 yards overall. Teammate Dakota Ryan rushed for 88 more yards on 10 carries and Connor Roth racked up 46 more yards on the ground on six carries. Owen Blanchette caught an 18-yard pass from Mikey Hamski.

Zack Bean and Ryan each had six tackles to lead the Falcons (3-0). Billy Beckwith, Jaret Hall and Blanchette each had three tackles for the Falcons, who host the Madison Lower Browns next week.

n Buckeye Upper Gray 33, Conneaut Falcons 20 — Quintin Blair ran for two touchdowns, while Matt Lilja also ran for a touchdown and a conversion. Marcus Ernst also ran 46-yards for a touchdown and Christian Blank ran for a conversion. Frankie Olivarez ran a fumble back for a score and Blair had an interception. Lilja led the defense with six solo tackles, while Ian Katon and Tyler Winchell each had four tackles along with Blair. Dalton Talso and Blank each had three tackles for Buckeye Upper Gray hosts Perry Black at Gerald M. Corlew Stadium next Saturday.

Rashaad Wells ran for 90 yards and the only score for the Steelers varsity in a 7-6 victory over the Redskins varsity in Ashtabula Midget Football League action. Ryan Rivera ran for 39 more yards. Ryan Rivera, Octavious Sanders and Terrence Williams each had five tackles for the Redskins.

n Jets varsity 18, Cowboys varsity 0 — Jarod Elrod ran for 191 yards and a touchdown, while Ja Mar Brunner scored twice and ran for 40 yards. Sam Pekarcik caught a 15-yard pass from Logan George and also ran for five yards, while Joseph Ortiz had 10 yards rushing.

Ryan Matthews led a suffocating defense for the Jets with 10 tackles and a forced fumble. Zack Mariotti had nine tackles, including two for losses, and a fumble recovery, while Ethan Bish added eight more tackles, including one for a loss. Dominic Richardson, Austin Sturgill, Brunner and Elrod each had four tackles, including one for a loss, Pekarcik added three tackles and Kyle Curtis, Patton Sidbeck, Devon Swoke, George and Ortiz all had two tackles.

n Jets JV 13, Cowboys JV 6 — Isaiah Parks ran for 140 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning score in overtime. Jason Faulkerson added 12 yards rushing. Derek Elrod led the Jets defensively with nine tackles, including three sacks and another tackle for a loss. Ricky Baldwin added eight tackles, including three for a loss and a sack and Parker Meaney had seven tackles and one for a loss. Jacob Robar contributed six tackles, James Bish and Parks each had four tackles and Isaiah Fleming, Alex George, Cayleb Haynes and Zeke Mariotti all had two tackles.

n Redskins JV 33, Steelers JV 0 — Rasheem Morgan ran for 147 yards on just eight carries, scored twice and also threw touchdown passes of 75 yards to Demontry Archer and 60 yards to Kaiya Kellerman. Edontrey Daughtery had 42 yards rushing and a conversion run and Christian Rosario ran for 29 more yards and two conversions. Lance Velez led the defense with seven tackles.
