Matt Lee raced home 16th and Jacob Burr was 29th to lead Riverside to an eighth-place finish at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
Lee finished in 18:24, the best finish by an area competitor in the event.
Woodridge ran away with the team title, tallying 62 points to runnerup North’s 141.
The Beavers netted 221 points. Edgewood was 16th with 462 and Pymatuning Valley was 25th with 703.
Derryn Tomsic paced the Warriors, taking 36th in 19:07. Chris Lemay was 41st in 19:12.
Following the two Warriors were Riverside’s Brigham Baker (47th, 19:14) and Kevin Nelson (49th, 19:14).
Brad Rinella was 80th in 19:49 to complete the Beavers’ scoring.
Josh Lemay (106th, 20:15), Cory Stewart (152nd, 21:13) and Noah Morgan (154th, 21:14) rounded out the Warriors’ top five.
Rodney Bell topped the Lakers’ contingent, placing 127th in 20:39. He was followed by Chet Mientkiewicz (134th, 20:44), Aaron Cross (159th, 21:18), Drew Wonderling (168th, 21:31) and Rory Gallatin (170th, 21:32).
Girls
Katie Durisin finished 26th as Riverside placed 15th in the girls race at the CVNP Invitational.
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy won the event with 60 points and Woodridge was second with 96. The Beavers scored 348 points, Conneaut was 20th with 570, Edgewood was 22nd with 592 and PV was 26th with 736.
The Beavers had Taylor Strauss finish 55th in 23:45, Danielle Kokal place 89th in 24:57, Rebecca Martin take 94th in 25:06 and Julia Krauss come home 100th in 25:23.
Alexis Millard paced the Spartans, finishing 70th in 24:21. Keeley Cole was 113th in 25:52, Christa Oxley was 122nd in 26:01, Jessica Thompson was 141st in 26:42 and Kira Hall was 186th in 29:48.
Shelbie Sporcich and Savannah Spring led the Warriors, taking 98th and 99th, respectively, in 25:17 and 25:19. Rebekah Simmons was 132nd in 26:20, Keegan McTrusty was 134th in 26:28 and Angel Newman was 194th in 31:02.
Abby Pike, Abby Hamilton and Saydi Lappe finished in a group for the Lakers. They placed 144th in 26:52, 145th in 26:53 and 147th in 26:54, respectively. They were followed by Cari Lynagh in 208th place in 35:42 and Lexi Poole, 210th place in 35:49.
