Roundup: PV pounds on Lordstown


A 30-point third quarter helped settle the issue for the Pymatuning Valley boys basketball team Tuesday night as the Lakers won on the road against Lordstown, 80-48, in Northeastern Athletic Conference action.

The Lakers (6-2, 5-1) held a 34-26 lead at halftime, but ran away to the win by outscoring the Red Devils, 30-11, in the third quarter. A balanced scoring attack powered PV as Andrew Smith scored 26 points, Jon York added 18, including three 3-pointers, and Mark Riley, in his 2009 debut in the Laker lineup after sitting out with an injury, added eight points along with Garrett Drnek. That offset 14 points from Steve Cribley and 13 from Billy Wright for Lordstown.

n Harvey 67, South 56 — Trailing 33-28 at halftime, the Red Raiders used a strong second half to defeat the Rebels in a non-conference game. Wes Paramore came close to a triple double for Harvey (7-3, 4-0 Northeastern Conference) with 22 points, including four 3-pointers, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Thamar Dukes had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Red Raiders, while Adrian Wooten added 12 more points. That countered 16 points from Joe Vidovic and 11 points each from Austin Ingraham and Curtis Winrod for South.
