A strong showing in singles matches carried the Jefferson Falcons past Edgewood, 4-1, Wednesday at Edgewood.
Chelsea Jarrell and Kelly Tisch each lost just two games, while claiming wins at first and second singles.
Jarrell took down Rene Mattson, 6-0, 6-2, in a first singles match, and Tisch defeated Connie Tate, 6-0, 6-2.
Courtney Painter finished off Jefferson’s sweep of the singles matches with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Mindy Baker.
The tandem of Lizz Walker and Lindsey Robertson provided the Warriors with their lone win of the afternoon, taking their first-doubles match from Jenny Piscsalko and Carey Hartman, 6-4, 6-3.
Emily Jeppeson and Kirsten Signor provided Jefferson with a second-doubles win over Jennifer Meranda and Paige Schlick, 6-1, 6-0.
n Lakeside 3, Madison 1 — After her first set went to the wire, Erika Ginn cruised in the second set at first singles and Lakeside cruised to a 3-1 victory in a rain-shortened match against Madison.
Ginn needed 12 games to finally topple Shannon Timperio in the first set, 7-5, before taking command of the second set with a 6-1 win.
Megan Reichart defeated Hannah Reynolds at third singles, 6-3, 7-5 and the duo of Shelby DeCamillo and Taylor Palmer defeated Liz Elmore and Erin Miller, 6-4, 6-2 for Lakeside’s other wins.
Lillian Zolar, playing at second singles, defeated Marissa Dioneff, 6-1, 6-3, for Madison’s lone win.
The first-doubles match between Lakeside’s Lisa Roan and Sam Reho were at 7-6 (10-8), 4-5 with Madison’s Ashley Palmer and Allison Misich when play was suspended due to rain.
n Geneva 5, Conneaut 0 — The Eagles won all five matches in straight sets to improve to 5-1, 4-0 in NEC. The Spartans fell to 1-2, 1-1.
Girls golf
n Northeast (Pa.) 233, Lakeside 253 — Kelly Moylan was the only person to break par, shooting a 1-under 34 to lead Northeast past Lakeside in a match where the team’s top five golfers scored points.
Kira Ernst shot the lowest for the Dragons with a 45, while Krista Johnson finished the front nine at Chapel Hills with a 49.
Allison Venditti, Brooke Ash and Maryssa Colucci each tallied 53s to round out Lakeside’s scoring.
n Jefferson 194, Pymatuning Valley 219, North 230 — Shelly Ford’s 38 was more than enough to help Jefferson claim the tri-meet title at Andover Golf Club.
Joanne Beckwith turned in a round of 51 for the Falcons, Kaitlin Pestello had a 52 and Cassi Picard rounded out the scoring with a 53.
Dana Hayford led Pymatuning Valley with a 52, while Shelby Baker and Katelyn Hootman both recorded 55s. Jillee Clute chipped in a 57 for the Lakers.
North’s top scorer was Saundra Smalley with a 53.
Boys golf
n Pymatuning Valley 157, Mathews 173 — Jon York, Mac Thurber and Adam Lane all cracked 40 to help the Lakers past the Mustangs at Andover Golf Course.
York recorded the low score of the day with a 3-over 38, while Thurber and Lane both turned in 39s.
Roman Gunman rounded out the top four for PV with a 41.
Jared Smith provided Mathews’ low score, shooting a 39.
Volleyball
n Gilmour Academy 25-25-25, Perry 16-13-21 — Erin Kline’s 13 points weren’t enough to lift Perry past Gilmour Academy.
Kline also tallied nine ace sets in the match, while Avery Kuhlman recorded seven points, six ace spikes and three blocks.
n Madison 27-25-25, Euclid 25-20-17 — Kelly Ashby and Kelsey Koskinen locked down the net, and the Boggs sisters provided a strong passing game to lead Madison past Euclid.
Ashby tallied five blocks, to go with four ace spikes, and Koskinen had four blocks and four ace spikes.
Megan Boggs turned in a 25-for-30 passing performance, with six aces, and Holly Boggs was 25-for-31 passing with three ace spikes.
Girls soccer
n Chardon 2, Edgewood 1 — Devon Beckwith recorded a goal and an assist to lead Chardon past Edgewood.
Morgan Stemple tallied the Warriors’ lone goal off an assist from Caity Mills.
Cayli Calogero recorded 13 saves in net for Edgewood.
n Lakeside 7, Harvey 1 — The Stowell sisters stole the show against Harvey, combining for five goals and three assists.
Emmy Stowell had three goals, while Mattie Stowell had two for the victors. Mattie Stowell picked up an assist on her sister’s second goal, while Emmy Stowell assisted on both of her sister’s tallies.
Dani Dreyer and Taylor Paneto had the Dragons’ other goals, while Kaitlyn Jepson picked up their other assist.
Andrea Lopez went unassisted on Harvey’s lone goal.

Riverside sneaks past Edgewood
Riverside wrestling coach Scott Blank learned a good deal of what he knows from Edgewood coach Greg Stolfer as a former Warrior great. Thursday, he used a bit of that knowledge to get the better of his old coach as the Beavers bested the Warriors, 31-28, at Edgewood.

Madison rolls past Geneva
Madison recovered from coming out on the short end of a pin in the first match of the night by taking six of the next seven matches against Geneva and capped the night with pins from their last pair of grapplers in dismantling the Eagles, 49-17.

In their last home game of the season, the Grand Valley Mustangs rose to the occasion on Senior Night, defeating the SS. John and Paul Heralds, 59-28.

Paige Clark led an attack that saw three Jefferson players reach double figures and Rachel Francis had a triple-double as the Falcons blasted visiting Liberty, 59-17, in an All-American Conference game Thursday night in Falcon Gym.

PV prevails
Cody Miller and Zach Campbell knew what they had to do in order for the Pymatuning Valley wrestling team to complete a come-from-behind victory over Jefferson on Wednesday at triangular match at PV.
The pair delivered exactly that and the Lakers pulled off the win, 37-36. -
Eagles bounce back
The Geneva girls didn’t have much time to regroup. But just one day after a heartbreaking defeat, they were able to knock off a strong Perry team on the road, 39-33.
