Browns sign linebacker Griffin

CLEVELAND — The Browns re-signed linebacker Kris Griffin to a one-year contract Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Griffin played in 12 games last season for Cleveland, mostly on special teams. Griffin ranked fifth on the team with 14 special teams tackles, missing the final four games because of a knee injury. Griffin joined the Browns last May after being waived by the Kansas City Chiefs.

An undrafted rookie free agent out of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), Griffin played in 2005 and 2006 for Kansas City, making 30 tackles in 24 games .
