KEN HEART FOUNDATION

Star Beacon

  • The KEN Heart Foundation is a 501 3 (c) non-profit organization. It has had a vital role in serving Northeastern Ohio for nine years.  It was founded after the death of Ken Derminer to sudden cardiac arrest from an undiagnosed heart condition at a football minicamp at the local high school by his family.
  • The organization has spent countless hours connecting with physicians on research initiatives, defibrillation donations to area schools and nonprofit youth league organizations, and CPR/AED training in schools.
  • Most recently, we are striving to bring cost effective heart screenings to area youths and athletes. To launch this new initiative we are hosting an annual walk/run in hopes to raise awareness and make changes to prevent needless tragedies brought on by sudden cardiac arrest. The leading cause of fatalities on school property and youth athletics.

  • Lakeside rolls past East

    One of the great lessons in sports competitions is to play with the maximum effort in utilizing your own skills and talents. It’s a lot easier said than done, but the Lakeside Dragons got a full dose of it Thursday afternoon as they tangled with a youthful and inexperienced group of Panthers from Youngstown East in a Division I sectional semifinal ballgame. The Dragons came out on top, 12-0.
