Eagles claim Jefferson title

JEFFERSON — The Geneva girls claimed the team championship at the Jefferson Junior High Invitational on Friday at Falcon Pride Stadium.

The Eagles tallied 110 points. Ravenna Southeast was second with 105.2, Heskett was third with 73.4, Braden fourth with 57, Pymatuning Valley fifth with 39, Conneaut sixth with 24.2, Jefferson seventh with 18.2 and Bristol eighth with seven.

In the boys event, Heskett netted 163 points to win easily. Ravenna Southeast was second with 91, Geneva third with 77, Bristol fourth with 30, Braden fifth with 22, Jefferson sixth with 22, Conneaut seventh with 16 and PV eighth with 13.

Winning individual titles for the Eagles were Alexia Russell (100-meter dash in 13.3, 200-meter dash in 28.7), Summer Arndt (400-meter dash in 1:07.06), Allie Thompson (high jump, 4-8), and Keely Lewis (long jump, 14-9).

Alivia Puckrin, Arndt, Thompson and Russell teamed to win the 800-meter relay in 1:56.2 while Arndt, Dareion Marrison, Amy Varckette and Thompson won the 1,600-meter relay in 4:48.08.

Geneva’s 400-meter relay team of Desha Repko, Jennifer Pruden, Puckrin and Sandlin was second in 55.94.

Nadia Barbo won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.81 for Braden and was second in the 200-meter hurdles in 35.21.

Matthew Otto of Geneva won the 200 in 25.82.

Hailey Sandlin (200, 29.18), Marrison (800, 2:49.5),   

Savannah Spring was second in the 1,600-meter run in 6:12.47 for the Bulldogs.

Katie Hall took second in the high jump with a leap of 4-4 for the Lakers and Gia Dibble was second in the long jump reaching 14-6.75 for the Falcons. Alexis Nelson took second in the shot put with a toss of 29-5.75 for the Spartans and Britta Kendzerski took second in the discus with a throw of 75-3.

The Eagles got a second from William Dawes in the 100 in 11.94, Timothy Bowling in the high jump, Nathan Coach in the shot put and the 800-meter relay team of Brent Bell, Ryan Rivera, Otto and Hawes.

Zach Lemay was second for Braden in the 800 in 2:30.09 and the 1,600 in 5:36.38
