This summer is shaping up to be a great one for young Cody Tyler Magda, 15.
Tuesday, while wearing his Nike cap, his Nike golf shoes, and using his new Nike Victory Reds clubs, he hit his first hole-in-one on the 13th hole at Hickory Grove Golf Course, finishing with a 37.
Cody, who will be 16 on Aug. 4, had just gotten his Nike clubs Monday as an early birthday gift from his grandparents, Dan and Belva Boone, proving that their money was well spent. He was on the Jefferson junior-high golf team for two years, the Jefferson varsity golf team for two years and hopes to again make the team this fall in his junior year.
His dream is to get a golf scholarship for Ohio State.
“What a great day today was,” Cody, the son of Shelly (Boone) Magda and Eric Magda, said. “Now I know what it means when they talk about getting your 15 minutes of fame. Everyone at the clubhouse made me feel 10 feet tall.”

At this point in the baseball season, there are two types of teams remaining — those that are happy to still be playing, and those that expect to still be playing.
