With a record of 7-0-1 the Lakeside Dragon junior high wrestling team placed first in the Premier Athletic Conference.
Coached by Jim Brady and Kelly Prine, it was obvious early on to the coaches that they had a very athletic team.
“We have a large team,” Brady said. “However, within that team were kids who had wrestled since they were 5, and others who had never stepped foot on a mat.
“We saw the potential right away, but knew we had a lot of teaching to do.”
“Being first in the PAC is an honor for the school and the team,” Prine said. “It wasn’t easy. Our wrestlers put in hours and hours of practice. We worked them really hard and they responded to that. They earned it through commitment, hard work and dedication.”
“We’re extremely proud of our team,” Brady said. “Lakeside wrestling has a very bright future.”
Here are the individual records for the Dragon matmen:
Michael Coup, 15-0; Caleb Spring, 13-2; Patton Sidbeck, 13-2; Cyle McAfee, 12-3; Michael DeCamillo, 13-3; Asa Williams, 15-1; Travis Bargeron, 15-5; Odyssey Grega, 9-2; Greg Ehasz, 11-4; Luciano Cunningham, 12-3; Max Upole, 10-5; DeShawn Jones, 12-7; Adam Bryski, 9-8; Parker Meaney, 7-8; Chase Bobbit, 9-7; Michael Hamilton, 12-7; Javaun Whitted, 11-5; Tyreese Colter, 7-7; Johnathan Santana, 4-4; Sam Pekarcik, 7-8; Brandon Weagraff, 5-7; Ethan Barker, 2-5; Sean Montgomery, 4-7; Anthony Carducci, 5-4; Alex Ehasz, 4-8.

Jefferson comes up a run short vs. Chagrin Falls
Whether it was the mistakes of a largely youthful team or just a case of bad timing, the Jefferson Falcons struggled to get hits with runners in scoring position during a Division II district semifinal final against Chagrin Falls.

Edgewood can’t hold off charge of NDCL
Not many people expected a much out of the Edgewood Warrior baseball team this year.
With a young team featuring only two seniors, Edgewood advanced all the way to the district semifinal contest Monday night before losing an early lead and succumbing to a talented second-seeded Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin team, 8-5. -
