Junior High Roundup: Hark! Heralds are 10-1


The SS. John and Paul combined squad knocked off Jefferson, 26-6, on Monday.

Makenzie Stenroos led the Heralds with 10 points, while Allie Penna contributed six.

With the victory, coach Ryan Looman’s squad finishes regular-season play with a 10-1 record.



Eighth grade

nGeneva 24, Riverside 19 — Emily Ball and Kirstie Otto both fired in eight points to lead the Eagles in avenging a loss earlier in the season on the Beavers’ home floor. Coach John Barbo’s Eagles (5-2) will invade Madison today.

nBraden 37, Conneaut 14 — The Bulldogs received nine points from Zhen Zhen Eidens and eight from Courtney Humphrey in improving to 7-6. Brooke Bennett paced the Spartans with seven points. Coach Roby Potts’ Bulldogs will play Grand Valley in the first round of the Ashtabula County Women’s Scholar-Athlete Association Tournament on Thursday at SS. John and Paul’s Mahoney Gymnasium.

n Geneva 45, Riverside 17 — Sarah Juncker ripped the cords for 10 points as coach Roberta Cozad’s Eagles upped their mark on the season to 3-4 with the PAC road W.
